Signs It May Be Time for a Skin Check
There are a number of skin conditions that can affect your health over time. Skin cancer, for instance, is very common in Australia, and may develop due to factors such as sun exposure, a high number of moles, or a family history.
If you have noticed any of the following symptoms, it may be worth booking a skin check:
- Suspicious moles or spots
- Uneven spot colouring
- Changing skin lesions
- A persistent sore
- Persistent redness and irritation
- Inflamed acne
- Dry and itchy skin
- Cracking skin
- Burning or soreness
- Excessive sweating

Your Journey Towards Better Skin Health
Our skin checks are simple and straightforward, so that you may feel supported every step of the way.
1. Book an Appointment
Reach out to our team to book your skin check. Please let us know whether you would like a full body check or a targeted spot check.
2. Your Skin Check
During your skin check, you may be asked to undress to your underwear so that your GP may thoroughly assess your skin from head to toe.
3. A Closer Look
If any areas of concern are identified, your GP may recommend a biopsy, in which a small sample of skin is taken and sent for further assessment.
4. Treatment Plan
Where needed, our team may perform minor procedures to remove concerning lesions. If further care is required, we will coordinate a referral to a trusted dermatologist or plastic surgeon on your behalf.
Your Skin Check Questions Answered
Do you only do skin cancer screenings?
No. Our skin checks also assess for other skin conditions, such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and more.
What are the main types of skin cancer?
There are three main types of skin cancer: melanoma, basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
Melanoma is the most serious, as it may spread quickly if left untreated. BCC and SCC are slow-growing but should still be identified and addressed as early as possible.
How often should I have a skin check?
For individuals at higher risk, a yearly skin check is generally recommended. Speak with your GP to find out what is right for you.
How long does a skin check take?
A full body skin check typically takes around 20 minutes, though this may vary depending on the number of areas your GP needs to assess. If you have a specific concern, a targeted spot check may take less time.
What should I wear to my skin check appointment?
We recommend wearing loose, easy-to-remove clothing to make the process as straightforward as possible.
